I’m not sure how many of you follow Amy McCready, the founder of Positive Parenting Solutions, Inc. She’s an author and a regular contributor to Today. She’s been on my Twitter feed for some time now, and I’m super excited to speak with her for my show tomorrow on WCHE, live at 1 p.m.! We will discuss her latest book: The “Me, Me, Me” Epidemic: A Step-by-Step Guide to Raising Capable, Grateful Kids in an Over-Entitled World. Reading several chapters of the book already, I can tell you she gives pretty sound advice.
For some reason—maybe it’s personal experience parenting my three—I was immediately drawn to chapter 5: “Creating a Consequential Environment.” Sometimes as parents, we’re so focused on our children’s success and happiness that we forget the power of failure and missteps. Think back to an occasion where you really, truly learned something new? Did it happen for you naturally, or did you have to fail before you succeeded? The same is true for our children.
I hope you’ll be able to carve some time out of your day to listen to my interview with McCready, Aug. 29 at 1 p.m. ET. If not, I’ll be posting the full transcript of my interview to this web site soon! Happy parenting!
